A NEW YEAR

With a new year comes new ways to grow ourselves. With reflection comes growth, and upon my own reflection as principal over both elementary and secondary, I want to ensure I communicate more with our student families in the year 2026.

In doing so, I plan to push out a monthly letter to our community to engage and connect.

I sat in a room almost two years ago stating my goal is meet Three Way ISD where it is and contribute positively overall for student achievement and community development.

Recently, our survey went out to staff, students and community members. With each survey, I take the time to review the comments and questions and understand where we can grow as a district. I believe in actions matching words and change can only happen if you communicate that you are working on the parts that need it. With education ever-changing, it can be hard to please all stakeholders at all times.

The surveys purpose is to provide a temperature check for the district, and then pivot.

Some of the comments are simple to address. Other feedback will require time, resources, and personnel. Thank you for remaining patient as we improve Three Way ISD and continue to have a growth mindset, instead of stagnancy.

SURVEY RESPONSE

Facilities
Overall, the gym was the hot topic of discussion. Our Education Foundation meets monthly and is working on a plan to present a vision for what is to come to address the gym.

Academics
We are in the second year of a new curriculum initiative. Our teachers are navigating it, becoming familiar with it, while our students are trending alongside them in their academic progress. This is a marathon, not a sprint, and we will ebb and flow in energy, motivation and progress as we maintain high expectations for our students and staff.

Extracurriculars & Athletics
Three Way ISD is small and in years past, we have tried to do a lot with little resources. Now is the time for us to focus on what we can do without “squeezing blood from a turnip”. Once we maintain the activities, sports, clubs we already have or determine if they are sustainable, then we will move into the next phase of growing programs. Student interest will drive what we do. If we do not have interest in numbers, it is difficult to pursue a specific pathway.

Overall Well-Being
Our staff trends in the 90% range of being satisfied in their roles. There are always areas to improve, but overall our students are growing, our staff’s voices are heard, and our parents are being included. Attending board meetings, participating in surveys, and seeking solutions helps our students, which is the ultimate goal of us all.
