Hi families!

As our students grow (especially around 5th & 6th grade 😉), their bodies are changing — and sometimes that comes with new smells! This is totally normal, but it is a great time to start talking about personal hygiene at home.

To help our students feel comfortable and confident during the school day (and keep the smells under control in the classroom 🧅), we’d love your help in encouraging good hygiene routines. A quick conversation can go a long way!

Here are some tips you can share with your student:

🧼 Daily Shower/Bath (Especially after sports, PE, or outdoor play.)

👕 Clean Clothes Each Day - Clothes don’t magically “refresh” overnight (we’ve all hoped this before 😂).

🦶 Fresh Socks Every Day - Feet can get real spicy. Fresh socks = happy feet

🧴 Deodorant vs. Antiperspirant
  • Deodorant helps reduce odor
  • Antiperspirant helps reduce sweating
  • Sometimes using a combination works best — it’s okay to experiment to find what works for your student.

💨 About Body Sprays (Axe, body mist, cologne, etc.) We know these are very popular — and we love that students want to smell nice! However:
  • A little goes a long way (like… one quick spray 😉)
  • Please do not spray in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, buses, or locker rooms
  • (Strong scents can cause headaches and breathing issues for other students.)
  • Body spray is not a replacement for showering or deodorant
  • It’s more like the finishing touch, not the main event.

🦷 Brush Teeth Twice a Day: Morning + night helps with confident smiles and fresh breath.

💧 Drink Water: Hydration helps regulate temperature and sweat.

🧺 Growing Independence: Laundry & Gear Care

This is a great time to help students build life skills such as:

  • Washing their own clothes (especially uniforms)
  • Making sure practice clothes get washed between practices 😉
  • Cleaning football pads, dance costumes, cheer uniforms, band gear, and athletic shoes
  • Keeping deodorant in gym bags or backpacks if appropriate
  • Small routines = big confidence boost.

👐 Hygiene Products Available at School

We understand that sometimes families need a little extra support — so we have hygiene products available, no questions asked! This includes shampoo/conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Students or families are welcome to pick up whatever they need to help stay fresh and confident.
