Every student deserves to get to and from school safely. 🚌❤️

October 19–23 is School Bus Safety Week, and we’re taking the opportunity to remind our students, families, and community that school bus safety is everyone’s responsibility.

🚗 For Drivers: Slow Down & STOP

When you see a school bus preparing to stop, slow down and be ready to stop. When a bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, you must stop. Never attempt to pass a stopped school bus. Wait until the bus has turned off its warning signals and begins moving again before proceeding.

Please be especially alert in neighborhoods, near bus stops, and during morning and afternoon commute times. Children may be walking near the roadway or crossing unexpectedly.

👟 For Students: Stay Safe Around the Bus

Remind your child to:
  • 🚌 Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching.
  • 👀 Look both ways and stay alert when crossing the street.
  • 🚶 Stay away from the roadway while waiting for the bus.
  • 🛑 Never walk behind the bus.
  • ✋ If something is dropped near the bus, tell the driver instead of reaching for it.
  • 📵 Keep phones and other distractions put away when walking near traffic or crossing the street.

❤️ For Parents & Our Community

Please talk with your children about safe bus-stop habits and, whenever possible, supervise younger children at the bus stop. Drivers should remember that a few extra seconds of patience can make all the difference.

Let's work together to make sure our Braves arrive at school ready to learn—and make it home safely each afternoon.

🚌 Slow down. Stay alert. Stop for the bus. Protect our Braves. ❤️🖤

School bus safety isn't just a school responsibility. It's a community responsibility.
